I'm posting tonight to remind myself how lucky I am, and how much I have to be thankful for. I'm downright grumpy presently, and lazy, and unmotivated. No excuses for any of the aforementioned.
But my yard is a big, gross mess. I would like to rearrange every room in my house; sort out stuff for a future rummage sale; get old, long overdue carpentry projects completed once and for all; and clean everything. The deck railing all needs replaced. And, just for good measure, I would like the house, garage, and garden shed to be painted a nice Colonial Red. With cream trim. Just because.
Actually, I would like the good fairy to come do all that, since I'm presently grumpy, lazy, and unmotivated. Or wish I could win even a smallish lottery so I could (guilt free) hire a professional top to bottom, wall washing, cupboard cleaning, window scrubbing, cleaning crew. And throw in an odd jobs company to fix all the outside maintenance that needs done. And, while we're at it, how about a contractor and crew to finish up that dagnabbit cabin.
Well now, that was a bit of a temper tantrum/pity party if ever I saw one. Right here in black and white. So, guess I'd best pick myself up by my boot straps, take a good dose of vitamins, and get after it! Nobody is going to do it for me, and right this minute is a good time to realize that.
I'm hoping Spring has finally sprung around here, but you never know. Just last Monday we had a pretty decent snow storm. The forecast for the next three days calls for rain, thunder, and lightening. It did sprinkle today. I took the poochies for a short ride last weekend while the skies were blue, and it was very pretty out. Saw lots of critters out and about.
Lots of these guys running around.
We saw a big bunch of wild turkeys hanging out with some deer. I just pulled off the side of the road to get a photo of them in the field. Couldn't get any closer unfortunately. The toms were really putting on a show.
Saw a few groups of cranes. They blend in so well with the stubble in the fields it's hard to see how beautiful they are.
A group of deer were standing out in the field; if you look closely at the center of the picture you can see them.
This is them when we got down the road a bit closer.
The Crazies are packed full of snow still. The temperature got to 83 degrees on our house thermometer late last week. It will be interesting to see how run off goes this Spring. Glad my folks won't have to worry about it for the first time in 27 years. The rivers can get mighty scary around these parts come Spring run off time.
This is the Absaroka Mtn range. They have their fair share of snow pack also. The Yellowstone River catches their run off. The Shields river catches the Crazy's run off, which then feeds into the Yellowstone down the way.
Bruce had to go to eastern Montana for work this last week. He had to do a lot of backroad traveling, and was nice enough to keep his eyes open for good stuff to photograph to share with me. He got some good ones –
This cool old school house. It would be so interesting to know the story of it's past.
Just barely, but still standing.
I bet this was the most adorable little cottage when it was fresh and new. Some farm wife was probably as proud as could be to call it her home.
It is dry, rough terrain out there, but quite pretty in it's own unique way.
This is the Fort Peck reservoir. It is a huge man made lake on the prairie of the Montana high line. It covers 245,000 acres, and stretches about 130 miles in length. Quite the boating and fishing destination in our state. Bruce will be spending a good bit of time working out in the east over the next few months. He is not too sad about that, since the road to the cabin will be looking like this shortly,
and we won't be able to get up there to work on anything anyway.
So, I'll be concentrating on an attitude adjustment. It's going to be a kick rump week at work. City wide Spring clean-up starts Tuesday, and the trucks will be rolling in loaded to the brim with all manner of debris left out by our towns folk. I will have a hard time of it probably – I can't stand to see useful things go to the landfill, and there will be plenty of that, I'm sure. I will just have to avert mine eyes, because I can't rescue everything.
TTFN,
Teresa
